Hummingbird Global Initiative LLC was established on a clearly defined conviction: that women with scientific and technical expertise deserve structured access to the commercial and professional development pathways that allow them to lead, build, and sustain within their fields.

The organisation was founded by Allison A. Johnson, whose motivation is rooted in direct professional engagement with the challenges facing women in STEM across developing and emerging regions. As the sole GSFN Coordinator for the Caribbean within the Global Sustainable Futures Network, Ms. Johnson has worked at the intersection of sustainable education, professional development, and regional advocacy; observing firsthand the systemic gap between the qualifications women hold and the commercial opportunities available to them within the STEM sector.

That observation became action. In her capacity as a GSFN Coordinator, Ms. Johnson delivered a presentation at the Advancing Women in STEM: Higher Education and Career Workshop, organised by GSFN in association with the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) and the British Council. At that workshop, she proposed the STEM Business Foundations Programme as a structured solution to the commercial development gap facing women in STEM; a proposal that was received with the confirmation of both its relevance and its necessity. Ms. Johnson's sustained contribution to this work was recognised by GSFN through the award of its Gold Certificate, presented in acknowledgement of outstanding contribution to sustainable futures and beyond.

Hummingbird Global Initiative LLC was formally established to give that solution organisational form. Its flagship initiative, the STEM Business Foundations Programme, is a four-month professionally structured commercial development programme open to final year STEM students, recent graduates, and unemployed professionals with a STEM background who are actively pursuing a commercial direction within the field. The programme operates across North America and the Caribbean, the Middle East and Africa, and Asia Pacific; addressing the attrition of qualified women from STEM careers at a regional scale with a rigorous, selective, and outcomes-driven methodology.

The organisation's broader mission extends beyond a single programme. Hummingbird Global Initiative LLC is committed to the long-term advancement of sustainable education, women's commercial empowerment, and the development of an ecosystem in which women in STEM are not simply represented but are positioned to lead. Every initiative undertaken by this organisation is designed with that outcome as its measure of success.
